Answer: They are made more intelligent as it enables machines to do difficult and complicated tasks in various fields.
(c) What kind of intelligence is this? Why is it called so?
Answer: This kind of intelligence is
Artificial Intelligence. When a machine like a computer or a robot
solves a problem or uses language or does something human-like, we say that as ‘intelligent’.

1. What is the role of Engkeys in classrooms? How are they useful?
Ans: Engkeys are robots that are being
used to teach English in schools in South Korea. The face of the human teacher,
who controls the Engkey remotely, appears on the screen of the robot and helps
the students connect with the teacher. Such robots are useful for teaching a
wide range of subjects to children living in far off places. Engkeys serve as
assistants to teachers.
2. Say with examples how robots are helping patients.
Ans: In Japan, theer are nursing
robots like the Robear and PARO. The Robear looks like a giant, gentle bear
that is strong enough to lift and move patients in and out of bed, help them to
stand, or sit in the wheelchair. The PARO robot is cuddly and soft with
artificial fur. Patients can cuddle or hug it to relax and calm down the
patients.
3. How is AI being used to save human lives?
Ans: In the United States of America
robotic horses and dogs are being developed for military use. Robots and
machines are also being used to do many dangerous and unsafe tasks like
defusing bombs, welding etc.
4. Explain how AI is making our lives more comfortable.
Ans: AI is making our lives more
comfortable in the form of smart home devices. Many of these devices, after
being used for some time, can actually gauge a person’s preferences and adjust
the settings on thermostats, lights, television, air conditioners etc.
